Jens Eckhardt

Dr. Jens Eckhardt is an attorney specialised in information technology law, and is also a Data Privacy Auditor (TÜV) and Compliance Officer (TÜV). He has been advising national and international businesses in these areas since 2001 — strategically (especially relating to outsourcing, the introduction of new systems, processes and technologies, and marketing strategies and technologies) as well as in specific individual cases (in particular concerning enquiries by regulatory authorities, legal disputes and specific questions). 

Dr. Eckhardt has published several lectures and other publications, especially on data privacy law. He is the author of a text version of the GDPR, the “Praxisleitfaden Datenschutz und Marketing”, and co-author (among other works) of the commentary “Recht der elektronischen Medien”, the handbook “Handbuch IT- und Datenschutzrecht”, and the book “Big Data im Marketing” (published by Haufe). He also heads the Data Privacy Task Force of the AG “Rechtsrahmen im Cloud Computing” within the framework of the Trusted Cloud initiative by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. In this function, he is also co-author of the guideline “Datenschutz und Cloud-Computing”.
